Investment Pools and Performance

The Arizona Community Foundation takes great care in the stewardship of gifts entrusted to us, managing assets to provide for the long-term charitable needs of our communities while earning a competitive rate of return.

Options to suit each donor's objectives

The Arizona Community Foundation offers a variety of investment pools, allowing donors to select the option that best matches the growth and grantmaking goals and the time horizon of their charitable giving plans.

While the majority of assets are held in the Long Term Pool, three other investment pool options are available to suit various objectives, and donors can even customize their asset allocation by investing among several pools.

ACF's professional Financial Services staff offer assistance in evaluating investment pool selections and guidance regarding the options, which include ACF's four investment pools described below.

Take a look at the reports at the bottom of this page for economic outlooks and market information, along with quarterly performance history for ACF investment pools.

Guiding Principles for Charitable Endowments

  • Endowed funds held in the Long Term Pool are, by definition, perpetual funds. ACF takes a long term view in setting the investment policy.
  • Given the long term nature of endowed funds, ACF should maintain a bias toward equity and alternative investments, which have higher long term expected returns than fixed income investments.
  • Increasing diversification among investment strategies can reduce risk and increase return.
