ACF's Pakis Center for Business Philanthropy announces BOOST! Prize winners
The Pakis Center for Business Philanthropy at ACF announced the prize-winning companies in the BOOST! Prize competition. Goodmans Interior Structures, an office furniture dealer with offices in Phoenix, Tucson, and Albuquerque, and Fann Contracting, Inc., a Prescott-based highway and civil construction company, will each receive $40,000 to boost their efforts as good corporate citizens.
Lon Babby elected to ACF Board of Directors

ACF distributes nearly $14.4 million in third-quarter grants, scholarships, prizes, and loans
ACF has announced the distribution of grants, scholarships, prizes, and loans for the third quarter of its fiscal year. The Arizona Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently elected two new members. Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT, ATC/L, president and co-founder of WebPT, and Mark C. Bohn, partner at Boyer Bohn, P.C., were both elected during the board’s January meeting.
Morning Star Leaders Youth Council learns about philanthropy at ACF
The Arizona Community Foundation recently enjoyed the privilege of hosting a learning circle from the Morning Star Leaders Youth Council, a group of young Native Americans representing various tribes throughout Arizona. Jacob Moore and Elisa de la Vara presented an overview of the Foundation and provided an example of what philanthropy looks like in practice.
Shelley Cohn elected chairman of ACF Board of Directors
The board of directors of the Arizona Community Foundation has elected as chairman Shelley Cohn, former executive director of the Arizona Commission on the Arts. Shelley succeeds as chairman Ron Butler, Arizona managing partner for Ernst & Young, who served as chairman since 2015. She served as vice chairman to Ron throughout his two-year term.
The American Dream in Crisis: A Conversation with Robert D. Putnam
The Arizona Community Foundation partnered with the Center for the Future of Arizona and the Girl Scouts—Arizona Cactus-Pine Council to present a series of events featuring respected thought leader Robert D. Putnam. During the events, Dr. Putnam provided insight into his groundbreaking examination of the growing opportunity gap among America's youth.
ACF funds three-year research project on Arizona's foster children
ACF is funding a three-year research and analysis project assessing neglect and prevention policies within Arizona's foster care system, led by Morrison Institute of Public Policy in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
