Cochise Quality of Life Index

In order to measure the progress of the community over time, Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise, the Cochise College Center for Economic Research and Cochise County partnered to create a Quality of Life Index. The QOL Index serves as a baseline for the state of the community and will be used to benchmark progress over time. Results of the QOL Index

Cochise Veterans Project

To determine the unmet needs of, and obstacles faced by veterans, a survey was administered to agencies in Cochise County that provide services to veterans and their families. For further insight into the needs of veterans, U.S. Census Bureau statistical data were compiled on the veteran population of Cochise County.

The study reveals that Cochise County military veterans are experiencing significant difficulty in accessing services, training, housing and job opportunities. These and other findings are outlined in a new report entitled Cochise Veterans Project: Unmet Needs of Veterans [PDF, 607KB], conducted by the Cochise College Center for Economic Research in partnership with the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise.

The needs-assessment study surveyed agencies providing services to veterans and their families throughout Cochise County, where veterans account for 19 percent of the population—far higher than the statewide figure of 11 percent and the national figure of 9.5 percent. U.S. Census Bureau statistical data were also compiled on the veteran population of Cochise County.
